The Route

And Their Off!
Setting out from the Glen Clova Hotel, we headed up through the hotel car park following the footpath. Straight away the path begins to climb, and very quickly we left the woodland to reach the open hillside.

The initial ascent was tough, a hard slog up to Loch Brandy. We gained height quickly, giving us awesome views back down to the hotel and across Glen Clova. After battling the wind and winding our way up the hill we were met by the glimmering shores of Loch Brandy. The Snub (the hill summit) towering to our left.

We followed the track anticlockwise from the loch and began another climb up the side of Green Hill. We were met by a snowy summit and amazing views of the hills beyond, as well as views over loch Brandy and Glen Clova.

From Green Hill we set off following the ridge around the loch. The snow got a wee bit deep here!

It was from here we set off on the final short ascent around the ridge to the summit of the Snub

When we reached the marker cairn we were rewarded with more amazing views of the glen and surrounding hills. Seemed like the perfect place for some daft photos!

Now came the the sharp, fast, slippery and all together brilliant decent back to the hotel. Coming down from the Snub, we skidded down the loose scree, then followed a fast paced dirt track from Loch brandy back down to Glen Clova Hotel.

A well earned lunch at the hotel. They appeared to serve me a whole cow judging by the size of my burger. Super tasty!
