An fantastic day out at the Devils Burden today with the Roadrunners. The whole event was new to me and I will definitely be signing up again next year. With great atmosphere, beautiful scenery and fantastic team camaraderie it’s not to be missed! This post will cover the second leg of the run, however I will be going back and doing the other legs as training runs in the future. So expect them to follow soon!
The day started bright and early with a short run over the tay bridge and a drive with the teams driving down to the start line in Falkland for registration.
We waved goodbye to our team mates embarking on the first leg of the race and made our way to the start of Leg 2 (Strathmiglo) where Kenny and I (you ran the race in pairs) waited to start our run to Kinnesswood.
We were off! We took off from Strathmiglo heading up hill and through the woods before being met by the tough ascent of West Lomond Hill.
The grass was deceptively icy and slippery underfoot!
Amazing views during the climb and incredible panoramic views from the summit.
After the climb we had a sharp descent before a long, gradual ascent to the top of Bishop Hill
After the climb we had a sharp descent before an undulating run to the top of Bishop Hill
After a super steep (RIDICULOUS) descent into Kinnesswood we had crossed the line and the others were off… I did not envy them having to run back up that hill!
We made our way back to Falkland for some soup and coffee, where we awaited the final leg runners!
A fantastic day out and a great running event that I would strongly recommend!
