This time I had some company with me for the recce run. I was lucky enough to be accompanied by 2 other members of the club who are also doing the Ultra! So, over the course of the weekend me, Steve and Elaine ran the whole route (though on the road, not the beach section at Carradale due to fading daylight. Will go back for that section) accompanied on the first day by my buddie Bill.
The First Day
To get more information on the first leg to Carradale, please see my previous blogpost. HERE. We ran the first day as I did when I ran solo. However after been shown a section that I had gone wrong on by myself, we adjusted our course for the correct route. Here are a few of snaps from the first day.
The Second Day
Starting early, leaving the comforts of our “Wigwam” and with tired legs, we made our way back to Saddle (near Ifferdale) and set off on the final leg of the recce to Campeltown. This was much more “Bike Friendly” than the other leg so Elaine could zoom off ahead. This section had some beautiful views of Loch Lussa. Here is the day in photos!
After the loch section it was tarmac road the rest of the way to Campeltown with a descent that caused some serious “foot slappage” haha!
Here are the route/ elevation maps of the runs!
All in all a great weekend of running.
